The SaddleBrooke Republican Club Board of Directors regret that we have not been able to schedule or conduct our monthly General Meetings since our last meeting in March. Initially, the health threat from COVID-19 shut down the state of Arizona and our citizens were asked to social distance. As a result, we were forced to cancel our General Meetings in April, May and June. Recently, the governor has gradually relaxed restrictions and begun reopening the state of Arizona.
The SBRC Board of Directors were hoping to begin our meetings again this summer but the HOA2 Board and the HOA2 Administration has not opened up the venue we have traditionally used which is the Mountain View Country Club Ballroom. So far we have not been advised as to when the Ballroom will be available and though we keep asking, we have gotten no answer.
To compensate for not being able to meet in person, we have provided the opportunity for our members to participate in Town Halls with all of our major candidates: Nolan Reidhead, Tiffany Shedd, Sheriff Lamb, Daniel McCarthy and next week Senator Martha Sally.
Our Vice President Gloria Wolf has done a magnificent job of sending out invitations to these Zoom Meetings that are easy to access by simply clicking on the link that is provided in the email. The Zoom Meetings give our candidates an opportunity to share their political platforms with our members and they also provide an opportunity for our members to interact with the candidates by asking questions.
In addition to the Virtual Town Hall Meetings on Zoom, the candidates have provided our members with YOU TUBE Videos which have been sent out initially by email and then posted on the Website for all to view.
Our Webmaster Bud Alexander has done an outstanding job in posting all important information quickly and keeps the Website up to date. I encourage you to go the Website at SBRC1.org and see for yourself!
Each month, a Newsletter has been sent out to members with current political news and a message from your president. Steve Kendall is the editor of the Newsletter.
Our goal as a Board of Directors has been to continue to inform our members about their candidates in this very difficult time. We encourage you to take advantage of the new technology and join us during the Virtual Town Halls as well as checking the Website for current information.
We are investigating other possible locations for meetings but finding out that all options involve limitations on participants. We will keep you informed as we move forward preparing for the August primary and the General Election in November. We sincerely hope that we will be back to ‘business as usual’ by September.
Best wishes to all, Patricia Tarner President, SBRC
