All three GOP candidates for Congressional District One (Lt. Colonel Wendy Rogers; Tiffany Shedd; and AZ Senator Steve Smith) participated in a panel discussion/debate before a crowd of about 75 enthusiastic members at HOA2.
The winner of the Primary election August 28th will face Democrat Congressman Tom O’Halloran November 6, 2018. It is vitally important to support the candidate of your choice.
SBRC Program Director, George Grove acted as moderator.
Each CD-1 candidate addressed members for ten minutes each, followed by Q & A – questions collected from those present. The first question was: “Regardless of which of you wins the primary, will you pledge to actively support the winner?” All three candidates enthusiastically agreed.
Other candidates for various offices presented one-minute remarks as usual followed by first-time before a SBRC audience, Jo Ann Sabbagh, who is a newly announced candidate for AZ State Treasurer. Campaigns continue to gear up fast with yard signs, palm cards and other hand-outs now that all petition signatures have been submitted. Welcome to election season!
Closing remarks from each CD-1 candidate included an invitation to anyone with more questions or interest in volunteering or taking a yard sign to stop by their individual campaign tables in the back of the room. George invited everyone to enjoy refreshments and a cash bar provided by SBRC. The meeting was concluded about 5:45 pm.
Only positive comments were heard around the room for this program. Don’t miss the July 11th barbecue! Watch for the next announcement early in July to RSVP!
